Reemergence of collarbones
August 4, 2009 on 7:58 am | In Uncategorized |So over the past 9 weeks or so, I’ve lost about 16 lbs. Since I finished school, I’ve been able to cook and plan out healthier meals. We don’t eat fast food any more, and we usually only eat out on Friday night, which is our “date night” (and has been since we’ve been married). We also exercise at least 30 minutes every day.
During the last few weeks it’s been strange to hit weight loss goals, because it doesn’t feel real. When I step on the elliptical, it asks how much I weigh so it can accurately measure how many calories I’ve burned, and I almost always go to type in a much higher number than I should. I’m incredibly excited that I’ve lost weight, and it’s really nice when I run into people at my work who haven’t seen me in a couple of months and they comment on how much smaller I’ve gotten. My clothes don’t really fit anymore, which is a nice problem to have (but a little inconvenient when you’re trying to save up for buying a home). But it all doesn’t really feel real yet.
I’m really hoping I can keep this up. I haven’t allowed myself to eat “real” dessert or unhealthy fast food in a while, and I’m kind of afraid of lapsing if I do. But it’s really been helpful that Brandon (and my friends/family) has been so supportive. He works out with me every day, doesn’t tempt me to eat unhealthy foods, and he’s actually lost about the same amount of weight as well. It’s been really nice.

Yay!! That’s so exciting and such a great feeling! If it’s any encouragement at all, I usually find that I stop craving the bad stuff (and that it doesn’t even taste as good) after not eating it for a while. I have also made a small start in weightloss - though about a quarter of what you have

That’s awesome! I’m excited for you.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Fast food commercials don’t even tempt me anymore. I’ll see a commercial for a big bacon cheeseburger and get grossed out.
The first week I went through sugar withdrawal. I was so grumpy and depressed. But now I don’t crave it NEARLY as much as I used to. I also really feel it when I don’t exercise. I feel more grumpy, drowsy, and stressed. It’s nice because I feel like I NEED it now.

Exercise is definitely addicting. Dave and I love racquetball, and he’s been really patient as I’ve been learning it, haha
I would love to stay updated on your progress and to know how you’re doing. It’s always nice to know there’s someone else working towards the same goal as you

Haha. Yeah, we need to bust out the camera. We’ve been so busy with house stuff I haven’t had a chance to take any pics. But I will present photographic evidence, verily!
