Last week we began our relationship with Netflix. We're getting three DVD's at a time, yet we still seem to be always waiting for the next to come. We get the DVD in the mail, devour it that night, and then have it back in the mailbox first thing in the morning. I figure we'll slow down once it's no longer new.
Our taste in movies is drastically different. Not that we can't find movies to watch together or anything. We watched Finding Neverland and I <3 Huckabees together last weekend. For the record, Finding Neverland was pretty good, and I <3 Huckabees was alright but promoted conflicting worldviews.
So here's how we're different: I mostly like comedies, and he likes a mix of everything. I don't really like movies with a lot of violence in it, mostly because it affects me too much and I feel sorry for people being killed/tortured. Yes, I realize I sound like a total girl for that. But you see, I am one, so there. I generally want to just be entertained watching a movie, and comedy allows me to laugh and lazily enjoy what I'm watching. With drama/suspense movies I'll become even more tense because I sympathize with the character. The biggest difference between us is that Brandon likes to order documentaries and movies about ancient Rome/Greece, and even he can't stay awake through them. I can handle some documentaries, and I am interested in history. But these have been... Well, he likes them. :) Or at least he likes sleeping through them. And as long as we have Netflix and it's relatively cheap to give him sleeping aid on occasion, and I have my own movies to watch to make it fair, I'm fine with it. Yay for Netflix.
