Just a mere hour ago, my fashion sense was judged by a five-year-old. That's right, a little kid accused me of being tacky. Well, practically.

Brandon and I were talking in front of Borders, about to walk inside, when a little girl and her father walked by. I didn't notice them until I heard the urchin shriek "PINK daddy! PINK and BROWN!" Why yes, I was wearing a white shirt with pink and BROWN stripes, with khakis. And I am aware that wearing pink and brown is a fashion sin. But the shirt had brown stripes! That qualified it to be worn with brown pants, right?

So the kid doesn't let up about the brown and pink, and I'm even looking straight back at her, saying "Brandon, that little girl is saying I'm tacky. She's like, five." Brandon however, was preoccupied, and said "I'm sure you're imagining it. Why would she be talking about you?" A. Little children are rude. B. (Most) Little children in California have been bred to have keen fashion sense to make up for their lack of manners. The mini fashion nazi continued her rant until her father (or some man) stuffed her into the car. The whole time I was fighting the urge to yell out, "It has brown stripes, too! BROWN STRIPES!"

This came two days after I stood in line behind a seven-year-old with dark black eyeliner in the mall foodcourt. See, it's not that I necessarily want children to stop growing up so fast because they are missing their childhood. It's that I want them to stop growing up so fast because children haven't mastered the tact needed when one notices that the fashion of another is lacking.
